A Sure-Fire Way to Create Positve Thoughts

Many of you are aware of the power of positive thinking. If you are familiar with the Secret or any of the other classic books on the subject, you know that when you maintain positive thoughts you create positive situations in your life. If you think negatively, you continue to experience negative events.

You will probably agree that this is a very simple formula to follow. Simply think positive thoughts and everything in your life will be great. The problem is that it isn't so easy. We human beings are geared to think negatively. You may be making a conscious effort to think positive thoughts, but the negatives still invade your mind. The more you resist, the more difficult and frustrating it gets.

As I continue to study and learn the power of the mind and how to influence it, I continue to be reminded of two words that, if used regularly, will almost automatically put your mind in positive mode. These words will put (and keep) a smile on your face. They can turn a negative day into a great one in a matter of minutes.

Are you ready for the revelation? Honestly, it is not much of a revelation at all. The two simple but amazingly powerful words are … thank you.

Once again, we are talking about a very simple equation here. Yet how often do we takes these words for granted or avoid using them altogether? I know I've often been guilty. However, I know that when I focus on the people and things I have to be thankful for in my life, even if it's just for a few minutes, my thoughts become positive in a very short amount of time. Instead of focusing on what I am lacking and creating more of it, I am focusing on what I do have. Those positive thoughts ultimately lead me to greater blessings.

When you spend time looking for things to be grateful for, you will find many things you never thought of before. You will realize how truly blessed you really are. Here are some tips to use to develop a grateful mindset and experience the power of gratitude:

1. Find time every day – One book I read provided a 28 day routine for increasing your level of gratitude. This was extremely helpful because it helps the reader develop the habit of finding time each day to be thankful, and it provided a list of topics to consider. The Bible has countless verses about being thankful morning, noon, and night, going as far to say that it is God's will for your life. Whenever you have time during the day, spend a few minutes focusing on what you have to be thankful for.

2. Be thankful about everything you see and touch – If you really want to dig deep and enhance your attitude of gratitude, you can be thankful for so many things you never even considered. For example, when you take a drink of water, be thankful that it's clean and drinkable. When you turn on the light, be thankful for the electricity you have. When you get stopped at the traffic light be thankful that it's there to keep you safe. When you walk into the supermarket be thankful of the wide range of food items available to you and the ability to pay for it. The list goes on. I think you get the point.

3. Be sure to thank people directly – A great way to use gratitude to keep a positive mindset is to thank people in your life as often as possible. Tell people and show them how much you sincerely appreciate what they do for you, even if it's just a short and simple act of kindness. They will appreciate your gratitude and will be willing to do even more for you. As mentioned, it also helps you stay positive.

4. Be thankful for what you don't have – This may be the most difficult one. It's hard to be thankful for what you want but don't yet have. However, the power of this type of attitude is amazing. The Bible says that when you pray for something and believe in your heart that you already have it, it will be yours. There is no better way to believe you already have something than to be thankful for it. It is this type of faith that causes miracles to happen.

These are just a few ways you can develop an attitude of gratitude in your life. The bottom line once again is that when you are thankful for the things in your life, it takes your mind off the negative. Instead of complaining and bringing more negative into your life, you are thinking positively, which only brings more of what you want into your life.
